Indiana Pacers stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening first round of the NBA Playoffs with a 98-80 road victory at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Thanks to Victor Oladipo’s 32 points, six rebounds and four assists to take a 1-0 series lead and hand LeBron James to his first loss in the first round since 2012.
James had won 21 first-round playoff games in a row and never lost a first-round series until Oladipo, who shot 11-of-19 from the field and hit six of nine three-point attempts, broke the streak to help the Pacers upset the Cavs and pull off a stunning win. “We’re fully aware of LeBron. We’re fully aware of his team. And we realize it’s not going to be easy, but we’re not going to come in here and just fold. We’re planning on winning, that’s why we came to this series, that’s why we came to play this game. We believe that we can win. We came into this game with a mentality that we wanted to attack on both ends of the floor and play the way we’ve been playing all year, and we did a great job of that. It’s only one game, it’s only Game 1.” Oladipo stated
In addition, Myles Turner finished the game with 16 points while Bojan Bogdanovic added 15 and Lance Stephenson got 12 points for Indiana. (Sign Up now for more updated news and sports events)
Meanwhile, despite the loss, James scored a triple double 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for the Cavs while J.R. Smith had 15 points off the bench. Kevin Love got 17 rebounds in the game but managed only nine points.
Moving forward, the Cavs and Pacers will return to action on Thursday, April 19, 2018 – 7:00 (GMT +) for their Game 2 matchup.
