Europa League - Griezmann

Despite of playing with 10 men, Atletico Madrid was able to earn a 1-1 draw against host Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League semifinal at the Emirates Stadiums.

Thanks to the late equalizer of Antoine Griezmann as he gave his team a precious away-goal advantage.

How it happened? Basically, the Gunners conceded a disappointing goal in the 82nd-minute of the match after taking the lead from Alexandre Lacazette. (Don’t forget to check 12BET for the best Soccer Betting Tips)
“We played with 10 men, but everyone worked so hard. Arsenal made a mistake and we scored. We know how to take advantage of mistakes.” Griezmann stated

Going back, Lacazette opened the scoreboard with a fine header to put Arsenal up by 1-0. Moreover, the Gunners has dominated the game all throughout but the Mattressers, who played 10 men for 80 minutes after the dismissal of Sime Vrsaljko, had some fine saves from goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

According to the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who set to leave his long-time role as manager next season, they could have qualified if they got the win. He also admitted that there’s no one to blame after the draw. (Sign Up now for more updated news and sports events)

“Looking at the performance and the way the game went, it was the worst possible result for us, but we have to go there in a positive mood and qualify. Unfortunately we gave a goal away from nowhere but now we need to recover from the disappointment and prepare for the next game. Of course it feels like an opportunity missed. We could have qualified tonight but it didn’t happen. Their keeper made a lot of saves and they showed their quality by scoring with one chance. But they couldn’t score with a combination; they could only do it with a long ball, so we have to look at ourselves.” Wenger expressed

Moving forward, Arsenal will try to make sure that it’s not going to happen again when they travel at the Wanda Metropolitano on Friday, May 04, 2018 – 3:45 AM (GMT +8) for the second leg of their Europa League semifinal.
