12BET’s watchlist in Euro 2020 qualifying: Five underdog teams to watch
The UEFA EURO Qualifiers for the 2020 European Championship has begun today, Thursday, March 22, 2019 (GMT +8) and we are going to take a closer look to the national teams that could produce an upset over the next few months.
Let’s begin with Group A – Kosovo:
The national team, controlled by the governing body Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK), is expected to cause problems for their opponents in Group A with some recognize names of Bersant Celina and Atdhe Nuhiu. In addition, the likes of Arber Zeneli (Reims), Valon Berisha (Lazio), and Milot Rashica (Werder Bremen) are the stars to watch with plenty of top-flight experience that makes them the most talented squad the other teams may face on paper. So far, England is the strongest team in the group and there’s no question about it.
Earlier, Kosovo showed some resiliency during their international friendly match with Denmark that ended 2-2 after 90 minutes of play. Amir Rrahmani and Celina were the players who lead Bernard Challandes’ squad.
Group B – Ukraine:
On this group, Portugal and Serbia are both serious opposition, but Ukraine has nothing to be afraid of despite having enviable depth to their squads, knowing that they have a promising crop of young players that start to make an impression particularly in defense. Mykola Matvyenko (22), Vitaliy Mykolenko (19) and Mykyta Burda (23) could all start in the back four, while Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko (22) and Dynamo Kyiv playmaker Viktor Tsygankov (21) offer promise for the future further forward. Meanwhile, the eligibility of Brazilian born Junior Moraes solves a long-standing issue up front, making Ukraine a decent outside bet to win the group
Group D – Georgia
Without a doubt, Georgia will take their chances to frustrate the likes of Switzerland, Denmark and Ireland following their impressive UEFA Nations League campaign, with five wins and a draw. Right now, they are well organized defensively as their sides have won eight of ten matches over the past 12 months, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
Group G – Macedonia
Qualification could be up for grabs for Macedonia as there’s no real top team in the groups aside from Poland, who are the favorites to top the table. In fact, Macedonia had a solid National League campaign as well with five wins out of six matches.
Group J – Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina could top the group with the help of Edin Dzeko (AS Roma) and Miralem Pjanic (Juventus). In addition, Edin Visca is also a threat while Toni Sunjic is a strong centre-back that could also help leading the team. Besides, Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Robert Prosinecki has made the team hard to beat after he took the reins in January last year.
